What is a Chalcedony Stone?

Chalcedony, a fine stone formerly known as a "semi-precious stone", is a mineral or rock composed of quartz crystallites, named after the city of Chalcedon in Asia Minor. It offers a wide range of pastel colors but can also be dyed to achieve brighter and more uniform colors, and has a matte to silky luster. Due to its durability, Chalcedony is ideal for jewelry making, with a hardness ranging between 6.5 and 7 on the Mohs scale. If you want to learn more about the history and virtues of the natural Chalcedony stone, you can find this information in our Blog.
