What is a Labradorite stone?

Labradorite is a fine stone (formerly called" half-preciousstone") known for its fascinating play of colors often in blue-green tones, called labradorescence, as well as for its metallic luster. In jewelry, labradorite is sublimated by light, which earned it the nickname "stone of fire" given by the Amerindians. The main deposits of labradorite are in Canada, on the Labrador Peninsula where it was discovered, but also in the United States, Madagascar, Mexico, Russia and Finland for the spectrolite variety which has all the colors of the rainbow in its reflections. It has a hardness of 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale. If you want to know more about the history and virtues of the natural stone Labradorite, find this information in our Blog.
