What is a Citrine Stone?
Citrine is a gemstone (formerly known as a semi-precious stone), it is a variety of quartz, with its yellow color attributed to the presence of trace amounts of iron oxides in the mineral. The term comes from the Latin "citrus," referring to the lemon, in relation to its color. Citrine can be pale yellow, lemon, as well as shades of orange and vivid orange "Madeira." The primary deposits are found in Brazil and Madagascar. Its yellow and orange hues easily enhance any piece of jewelry. It has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale.
