What is a Sodalite stone?

Sodalite is a fine stone (formerly called "stone half-precious"), a gem of an intense purplish blue, often with fine white veins of calcite. It is sometimes used in the composition of lapis lazuli but has a much more violet hue than the latter. The main sodalite deposits are in Brazil, Canada and the United States, where it is widely used in jewelry for its intense color. It has a hardness of 5.5 and 6 on the Mohs scale. If you want to know more about the history and virtues of the natural stone Sodalite, find this information in our Blog.
