What is Black Onyx (black agate) stone?

Black Onyx is a fine stone (formerly known as a "semi-precious stone") belonging to the Agate family within the Chalcedony group. Agate is mainly sourced from India, South America (Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico, Brazil...), and South Africa. It has a hardness of 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale.
