Tiger's eye is a variety of shimmering quartz whose fascinating golden color playing with the light is due to oxidized crocidolite fibers. This gem is cut in cabochon and sometimes very slightly faceted to highlight its golden reflections. It is in South Africa that we find the largest deposits. But tiger's eye is also found in India, Burma, Western Australia and a little in the United States. Its unique appearance makes it a prized stone in jewelry while being reasonably priced.
