Jade is a gemstone that can go from the purest white to deep-green. We distinguish two different types of jade: Jadeite, often light green with sometimes white that gives the famous "imperial jade" but that can also have purple, orange or brown, and the Nephrite that has an intense green with little black inclusions (magnetite and graphite) giving it a "kiwi" look, but can also be completly white. Jade was the quintessential precious stone for many south american civilisations such as Mayas and Aztecs, but also for a large part of Asia, including China where it still is the most valuable gemstone.
