What is Lepidolite?

Lepidolite is a gemstone (formerly known as a "semiprecious stone"). It is classified among the violet gemstones along with sugilite and charoite, and has a unique appearance that makes it relatively easy to identify. It is a scaly structured stone due to its lithium fragments. The main deposits of this rock are found in Brazil, Peru, Russia, Afghanistan, and Madagascar.
