What is a Phosphosiderite Stone?
Phosphosiderite is a gemstone (formerly known as a "semiprecious stone") that is rare. It is named after its main components, phosphate and iron. The word "siderite" at the end of "phosphosiderite" comes from the Greek word "sideros" for "iron". Phosphosiderite is extracted in certain parts of Chile, Argentina, and Germany. It is a stone derived from variscite, which is itself derived from turquoise, so it has the same properties as natural turquoise. It has a hardness between 3.5 and 4 on the Mohs scale.
