What is a Jasper stone?

Jasper is a fine stone (formerly known as a "semi-precious stone") that belongs to the Chalcedony family, just like Agate. Jasper is opaque and comes in various colors but remains in dark red, brown, and dark green shades. It is often cut into cabochons or engraved, used in both jewelry and ornamentation. Red jasper is highly appreciated for its non-aggressive color and calming properties that help release stress and external tensions. It has a hardness of 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale.
