What is a Peridot Stone?

Peridot is a gemstone (formerly known as "semi-precious"), it is a variety of olivine (which is a family of green gemstones) appreciated for its characteristic lime green color. Peridot has a beautiful luster and is shock-resistant, making it a highly used stone in jewelry making since ancient times. The best deposits are found in Burma, Pakistan, and Arizona (USA), where currently over 80% of peridots come from. China and Egypt also have good deposits. It has a hardness between 6.5 and 7 on the Mohs scale. If you want to learn more about its history and virtues, check out our article on the Peridot stone.
