What is a Citrine Stone?

Citrine is a fine stone (formerly known as a semi-precious stone), it is a variety of quartz, with its yellow color due to the presence of tiny amounts of iron oxides in the mineral. The term comes from the Latin "citrus" which refers to lemon, in reference to its color. Citrine can be pale yellow, lemon, but also orangish and bright orange "Madeira". The first deposits are found in Brazil and Madagascar. Its yellow and orange hues easily brighten up any piece of jewelry. It has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale.
