With its vitreous luster, it is transparent to translucent. Its color varies greatly depending on the trace elements it contains. It fluoresces when exposed to ultraviolet radiation. It has a white streak. Its main deposits are found in Brazil and India. It has a hardness of 4 on the Mohs scale.
