What is a Diopside Stone?

Diopside is a gemstone (formerly known as a semi-precious stone), whose name is composed of two Greek words: "di" meaning "two" and "opsis" meaning "view," due to the hemimorphic nature of its crystals. It is a slightly translucent green mineral stone with a bright to intense green color that is highly valued, making it an ideal stone for jewelry mounting. Diopside can balance the heart chakra. It can be found in Brazil, Asia, Europe, and North America. It has a hardness of 5.5 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale. If you want to learn more about its history and virtues, check out our article on Diopside stone.
