What is a Gemstone moonstone?

The moonstone is a fine stone (formerly called "stone half-precious"), also called Adularia. It is usually white with a subtle play of colors in blue and pink tones called "adularescence". It recalls the innocence of the moon and is associated with fertility and femininity. Its main deposits are in India, Sri Lanka and Australia. In India, it is called "chandrakant", which means in Hindi "loved by the Moon" (from "chandra": moon and "kanta": loved). Synonymous with purity, moonstone goes very well with a large number of alloys and softens any outfit. It has a hardness of 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale.
