What is a Pyrite stone?

Pyrite is a fine stone (formerly called half-preciousstone) with a metallic color, between silver and gold, reminiscent of gold. Often confused with the precious metal, pyrite was called "fool's gold" before its jewelry potential was recognized. It was used as a mirror by the Incas and was once called the "stone of the Incas". It has a hardness of 6 and 6.5 on the Mohs scale. If you'd like to find out more about its history and virtues, read our article on Pyrite stone.

Cabochons are very simple to use: simply apply glue to the flat side of the cabochon and glue to a suitable support to create a piece of jewelry. Discover our selection offinding for cabochons: cabochon support set in 925 sterling silver and cabochon support set in 14K gold filled.
