What is African turquoise?

African turquoise is a fine stone (formerly called half-preciousstone), which, despite its name, is not turquoise. It is in fact a mottled jasper of African origin, with a structure similar to that of jasper stone. The stone is turquoise-green in color, dotted with darker inclusions.
