African turquoise is a fine stone (formerly called half-preciousstone), which, despite its name, is not turquoise. It is in fact a mottled jasper of African origin, with a structure similar to that of jasper stone. The stone is turquoise-green in color, dotted with darker inclusions. Its hardness ranges from 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale. If you'd like to know more about its history and virtues, read our article on African turquoise stone.
